İdris Gökalp is a Research Assistant in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at Kocaeli University and a PhD student working on powder metallurgy, advanced manufacturing, and structural materials. His research focuses on titanium- and magnesium-based systems, nickel-based superalloys, and functionally graded composites, with emphasis on microstructural characterisation, mechanical behaviour, tribology, corrosion, and surface-related performance. His doctoral research investigates carbon-particle-reinforced titanium matrix composites produced via powder metallurgy.

Research Areas : Powder metallurgy, additive manufacturing, Ti/Mg alloys, graded composites

Core Methods : SEM, XRD, wear, corrosion, fatigue, nanoindentation, heat treatment

Research Interests

  • Powder metallurgy and pressure-assisted sintering
  • Additive manufacturing of advanced alloys
  • Titanium-, magnesium-, and nickel-based materials
  • Functionally graded and particle-reinforced composites

Current Research

PhD topic: Fabrication of carbon-particle-reinforced titanium matrix composites via powder metallurgy and evaluation of their microstructural, mechanical, tribological, corrosion, and antibacterial behaviour.

Ongoing work also includes studies on SLM In718 superalloys and graphite-reinforced, compositionally graded Ti6Al4V composites.
