Dr. Mustafa Armağan is a mechanical engineer specializing in advanced manufacturing technologies, non-traditional machining processes, and innovative cooling solutions for energy systems. His research primarily focuses on Abrasive Water Jet (AWJ) machining, surface characterization, tribology, and the mechanical behavior of advanced composite materials.

After completing his undergraduate education at Balıkesir University, he obtained his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the Institute of Science at Kocaeli University. Prior to his academic career, he accumulated extensive professional engineering experience, which he now integrates into his scientific research at Istanbul Medeniyet University. Dr. Armağan currently serves as the Deputy Director of the university’s Science and Advanced Technologies Research Center (BILTAM), where he contributes strategically to the institutional development of the center and the modernization of its laboratory infrastructure.

Dr. Armağan has contributed numerous publications to the academic literature, including 12 articles indexed in Scopus. His research has been published in prestigious journals with CiteScore values reaching 12.0 (Q1/Q2). He serves as a Guest Editor for the journals Frontiers in Materials and Coatings, and actively participates in international peer-review processes. He has also taken part as a researcher in several scientific research projects and has contributed to interdisciplinary studies on the aerospace and biomedical applications of advanced manufacturing technologies.

  • Thermal Management: Heat transfer performance of hybrid nanofluids and battery cooling systems
  • Material Characterization: SEM, XRD, and morphological analysis of surface/subsurface integrity
  • Computational Intelligence: Machine learning applications in manufacturing (ANOVA, ANN, Fuzzy Logic)
